Episode 5 - Vote May 11th!!!

This month, Wes and Kate abandon the usual format and talk about the upcoming municipal election on May 11th! Again, that’s May 11th, not whatever Wes thinks it is.

As regular listeners know, Kate is running for Township Commissioner on the Collingswood Together ticket. In this episode, she explains why she’s running, what she hopes to accomplish, and what her top priorities are.

Kate’s top priority is transparency. As commissioner, she pledges to hold working sessions, which means that finally the public will have, as is legally required, access to a full and open debate on every issue addressed by the Board. She also promises more transparency when it comes to public contracts, which currently go mostly to the well-connected.

On affordability, Kate hopes to bring down costs of living by allowing homeowners and developers more flexibility to increase the supply of housing in town, and change some of the zoning that tends to push all the renters into one area.

On sustainability, Kate has a lot of ideas, including addressing our solid waste disposal issues, stormwater runoff, and drinking water.

As always, thanks for listening, and remember to vote on May 11th!
